Oxfordshire Pharmaceutical Client
High Speed Door Case Study

Client: Pharmaceutical Client
Location: Witney, Oxfordshire
Sector: Pharmaceutical
Products Used: CRC (high–speed clean room door) SST-L (high-speed spiral door) and STR-L (high-speed turbo roll–up door)

Who is the client?

The client is a global leader in medical device design and manufacturing. Formed over 70 years ago, they specialise in innovative products for drug delivery for patients suffering from an array of conditions including diabetes and are trusted by healthcare professionals around the world.

What fast action warehouse door did they choose?

This project, at their Witney facility, involved a number of different locations around the building, each with a specific requirement and niche need. As they operate within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, air purity and hygiene are essential. The CRC high-speed door has been specifically designed for the requirements of cleanrooms. Characterised by their fast action, and compact design, they feature smooth, easy to clean surfaces.

Meanwhile the SST-L, the original warehouse high-speed spiral door from EFAFLEX is ideal for busy environments where its speed and durability combine to provide clients with a reliable all-round solution.

The STR-L is our high-speed roll-up option, which is ideal for both interior and exterior use. Opening at speeds of up to 4 m/s it can withstand the highest wind capacity, unlike lower quality fabric roller doors.

What benefits will this high -speed industrial warehouse deliver?

The combination of the clean room, spiral, and roll-up high-speed doors for this particular project will all help drive efficiencies for the client, while maintaining air quality. This was a new multi-million pound building which required state of the art technology. The two sets of doors (as shown in the images), create an effective interlock that is well insulated giving excellent U vales of 2.10 Wm2.

The speed of all of these industrial warehouse doors will ensure faster logistics, with improved user safety.

What are the key benefits of this specific door?

The CRC clean room door is heavy duty while low maintenance. The GMP-compatible door types of the clean room series are mainly constructed from V2A and classified according to ISO 14644-1. The CRC is ideal for pharmaceutical or clean room environments.

The spiral and turbo roll-up door both deliver on speed and durability, to ensure minimal ‘keep open’ time and thus reduce exposure to the elements, the seepage of heating /chilling to minimise energy costs and other contaminants.

Were there any specific requirements from this project?

This project was similar to other clean room clients, where guaranteed air purity and hygiene are essential. EFAFLEX have a portfolio of clean room doors that have TÜV Certification according to ISO Class 5, 6, and 7.
