This is a new client to EFAFLEX who had a particularly unusual site installation.
They are a well-known brand within the construction industry, manufacturing high-performing and sustainable insulation products. They operate globally in over 39 countries, employing over 11,000 staff.
This project was sited at their Bridgend factory in South Wales. The first photograph shows the open ramp area, particularly prone to wind problems that affected their internal doors. The client wanted to create a ‘pod’ scenario by adding a warehouse high-speed door onto the ramp’s entrance, which would reduce the problem. As you can see, there was limited headroom in which to operate which was further compounded by the slope gradient.
Having completed a site survey, we recommended a SST L 237 door type which offers exceptional acoustic insulation and wind resistant to class 2 -4. It is ideal for an external applications and capable of up to 100,000 operating cycles per year.
As with all of our installations, the door is made bespoke to the client’s needs. Here we used our expertise to design a spiral door blade configured to cope with the reduced head height. Rather unusually we installed the warehouse door ‘back to front’ to cater for the shape and size of the aperture.
The installation has created an effective pod, securing the area and providing wind resistance. The client is delighted with the result and has already committed to further orders in 2022.
