On 26 November 2025, RID carried out a precise measurement at the Bruckberg Group headquarters. Independent witnesses accompanied the entire process and all data was recorded in full. In order to record the record accurately, the 4,500 x 5,000 mm door was connected to an electronic measuring system. When opening, the door reached a speed of more than five metres per second – a value that makes the EFA-STR®-L Premium the fastest vertically opening industrial door.
Now it's official: EFAFLEX has developed the fastest door in the world. “This speed is impressive,” explains Olaf Kuchenbecker from the Record Institute for Germany (RID). “Visually, it's a whole different world, because you don't see this anywhere else.”
Speed that can do more than just impress
An industrial door that opens and closes at maximum speed is not only a technical highlight, but also a real sustainability factor. At this speed, heat loss is virtually eliminated. And that is precisely what matters today: saving energy, conserving resources and optimising processes. In production, every kilowatt hour saved counts. At the same time, a lightning-fast door increases protection for employees and equipment, providing added safety that is indispensable in everyday life.
“For us, the world record is much more than just an impressive number. It shows what our engineers are capable of thanks to their expertise, innovative strength and true pioneering spirit,” emphasises Norbert Höfner, Head of the Technical Office for Applied Research and Testing at EFAFLEX.
The officially confirmed world record underlines what every EFAFLEX door has to offer. Over five decades of engineering expertise and a design that is created for extreme loads, regardless of the industry in which the door is used.
For the record attempt, a five-member EFAFLEX team took on a challenging task: to bring a door leaf with minimal weight to top speed in the shortest possible time and to slow it down again in a controlled and safe manner. This is entirely in line with our company claim: “Fast and safe doors”.
The design of the record-breaking door combines three factors that set EFAFLEX apart: maximum speed, maximum safety and first-class energy efficiency.
