Client: VEKA
Location: Burnley
Sector: Warehouse and Logistics
Products Used: A variety of doors over several projects
Problem Solved: Safety and speed of logistics
VEKA manufacture PVCu windows and doors at their facility near Burnley. They operate the UK’s first dedicated PVCu window recycling service as part of their sustainability mission. The end-of-life frames can be recycled and reused, being incorporated into new products.
Similar to EFAFLEX, VEKA are specialists in their field. They fabricate and install as part of their service, and have set a new benchmark for construction products by becoming the first UK system to achieve conformance with the Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI).
What benefits will this fast action door deliver?
VEKA have been a long-standing customer of ours, purchasing doors for over 15 years.
They have come to rely on our product’s speed and reliability in a busy manufacturing facility where downtimes are costly.
Our doors are capable of over 500,000 operating cycles each year. Some of the EFAFLEX doors in situ at VEKA have comfortably performed over 1 million cycles.
The VEKA site is subject to high winds, and our doors are installed to Wind Class 3 / 4.
User safety for VEKA is paramount. For one project we replaced an existing door with an EFAFLEX STT (turbo spiral) which features see-through laths for increased visibility.
What are the benefits that these fast action doors will deliver?
Between the numerous projects we have completed for VEKA, we have installed both spiral and fabric door types for differing locations and needs within the facility.
The spiral door design is known for its turbo speed opening and located on the exterior of the buildings to enable smooth logistics and workflow. They help reduce costly down time by reducing “keep open” times, while minimising the risk of contamination in busy production areas.
Were there any specific requirements from this project?
VEKA are very familiar with our door range, having used them throughout their facility for over 15 years. The requirements from them are always similar;
- To ensure that we help increase their user safety e.g. see-through laths
- To minimise costly downtimes and disruptions due to our product’s reliability and quality
- To maximise workflow and ensure smooth logistics around their facility
- High wind resistance and minimise contamination
It’s always a delight for us to return to existing customers who have come to appreciate the product difference between quality high-speed door manufacturers.
