St Austell Pharmaceutical Client
High Speed Door Case Study
Client: Pharmaceutical Client
Location: St Austell, Cornwall
Sector: Pharmaceutical
Products Used: SST 237 (high-speed spiral)
Who is the client?
This is a returning customer to EFAFLEX UK who has a vast experience of using our products and appreciating the many benefits they bring to this global pharmaceutical player. Here we assisted at their St Austell site in Cornwall, where they are known for designing and manufacturing solutions for injectable medicines.
What fast action warehouse door did they choose?
Following a site visit, during which our local Business Development Manager was able to understand the specific needs for this application, a SST high-speed spiral door was chosen.
The fast action door was to replace an older roller shutter type warehouse door, that is labour intensive to operate, and doesn’t possess any insulation benefits. It uses a pulley system to open and close, meaning that keep open times and exposure to the elements were protracted, with heat escaping.
What benefits will this high -speed industrial warehouse deliver?
The SST is ideal for manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics applications. Its fast action, opening up to 2.5 meters per second vastly reduces the keep open time, and thereby minimising exposure to the elements. Consider this in energy saving terms. Minimising keep open time will significantly reduce heat loss, and therefore can help reduce energy costs by up to 50%, as well as minimising ingress, minimising the risk of contamination.
The door can open remotely, automatically or via sensors without the need for manual handling; again, to reduce keep open time, but also improve user safety, and labour saving.
What are the key benefits of this specific door?
The specific benefits of the SST insulated version include;
- Maximum heat insulation by using EFA-THERM® laths
- Highest wind load capacity for remote or exposed sites
- Operating up to 250,000 cycles per year
- Exceptional build quality using materials and parts which are >90% recyclable at the end of service life
Were there any specific requirements from this project?
This was a straightforward project with no specific or awkward requirements. The client is an avid EFAFLEX user and fully appreciates the many benefits the SST will bring to their site at St Austell. Thanks go to the engineering team for another quality project installation.
The client has taken out a post sales maintenance contract to ensure their door remains in full operational mode with minimal costly downtime.
