Sandford Orchards – a family-owned, award winning, independent cider making business, located in the heart of Devon. Founded in 2002, their session, flavoured, traditional, and fine ciders are processed using the finest apples using the oldest working cider mill in the UK.

What fast action warehouse door did they choose?

Sandford Orchard had a site visit in October 2022, during which it was decided to use 1 x SST 237 (high-speed spiral door) and 1 x STT 231(high-speed spiral door). They are a new client to EFAFLEX UK, and the doors were chosen to function as a safeguarding and security barrier to prohibit customers from accessing the cider processing area.

The SST fast action warehouse door is ideal for this application, whereby work zones are created between production or manufacturing facilities.

What benefits will this high -speed industrial warehouse deliver?

The high-performance SST can open at speeds of up to 2.5 metres per second and has the highest wind load capacity; an important consideration for sites in remote or exposed locations. Durability is key, with the SST capable of up to 250,000 operating cycles per year to minimise downtime and increase periods between service checks.

What are the key benefits of this specific door?

The SST features EFA-THERM® transparent laths which offer both insulation properties to reduce energy costs, and with the added benefit of providing a vision pane for improved user safety and allowing natural daylight to enhance the working environment.

Were there any specific requirements from this project?

As with all of our projects, the doors were made specifically for the aperture. At Sandford Orchards, the door space was an awkward shape, needing to fit around existing steels – as shown in the photographs below. Typical of EFAFLEX, our engineers worked to overcome the existing obstacles to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
