Who is the client?
Here we worked as part of a large construction team for Blackpool Council, on a £300m multi-storey car park with leisure complex regeneration programme.
We had previously supplied Blackpool Council around 9 years ago with high-speed doors which continue to be in daily use nearby.
We completed a site survey in 2023, during which we fully ascertained the needs of the council and recommended our SST-PS-L doors. Here we worked alongside the design and construction teams to provide idea solutions for this prestigious development.
What fast action industrial doors did they choose?
More than 10 doors were needed across this site, which features ground floor plus 5 parking decks featuring external ramps to aid swift access and egress during busier periods. The parking bays were slightly larger than normal at 2.5m x 5m with the future thinking plan incorporating electric vehicle charging points and storage space.
The PS Series from EFAFLEX has been specifically designed for the car parks; combining fast action for reduced keep open time to minimise exposure, increase the user’s safety and offers great aesthetics.
What benefits will this fast action door deliver?
The multiple SST-PS located around the facility will help improve the challenges typically faced by car park operators and managers. Their high-speed opening (and closing) significantly reduces the keep open time and exposure to minimise the risk of unauthorised access.
Fully tailored, they can easily be integrated into the client’s systems regarding automation, ticket dispensing and ANPR. They can be supplied with ventilation laths or designed for challenging site specifics e.g. low lintels.
This seaside site is subject to high winds, and salty air conditions with the SST-PS doors installed classified to Wind Class 3 / 4.
What are the key benefits of this specific door?
The SST-PS is a space saving door, designed for car park environments where head room may be limited. Typical of the EFAFLEX brand, the PS Series characterises fast opening and closing action, safety, reliability, and ongoing performance.
Were there any specific requirements from this project?
This was a large-scale construction project that took around 60 weeks to complete. As a full turnkey operation, the various suppliers had to work seamlessly as time was critical due to the modular solution and on-site programme which was far shorter than for traditional builds.
